About the Biblical Solar Calendar Website

Hi! My name is Larry and I am the owner of the Biblical Solar Calendar website. I was raised a PK in the Midwest United States, and I’ve been a believer in Yeshua/Jesus for my entire adolescent and adult life. For the past twenty-five years, my wife and I have been pursuing a Torah-based lifestyle. It is the most fulfilling decision I have ever made.

For most of my Torah-pursuant time I just accepted the standard Jewish calendar, sometimes called the Hillel calendar, or some close variation of it as the calendar of the Bible, and went about digging into other things. Believe me, there are a lot of things to dig into! Then around the time of the “pandemic” (I make no comment about that event), I started looking into, well, let’s just call them alternative views on a number of topics. The calendar I was using quickly rose to the top.

After reading portions of the Dead Sea Scrolls and apocryphal books like Enoch and Jubilees, I am now convinced that a solar-based calendar was what the ancient Israelites followed prior to the Babylonian captivity and the subsequent influence and integration of Hellenism. I came to that conclusion a few years before some popular Messianic teachers began adopting this calendar. It is exciting to see it catching on.

But the vast majority of Torah-pursuant believers in Yeshua still use the Jewish lunar calendar, and for a variety of reasons. Most, like me at one time, have never considered anything else. So for the sake of fellowship with other believers, I generally observe Yah’s Appointed Times with them. I’ve also found a few people I can actually fellowship with who are observing this solar calendar. I don’t believe that is a compromise. We are all at different stages in our learning.

The simple fact is, there was more than one calendar in use during the time of Yeshua and the period covered by the New Testament. Yet, not even one time is a calendar date mentioned. Clearly, keeping the commandments of Yah and gathering together as a body of believers was more important than figuring out exactly what the date is. Still, I am convinced that for a deeper understanding of prophetic events, knowing this calendar is very important.

So I created this website for my own benefit and to be able to share my thoughts with others. One page is dedicated just to the layout of the Biblical Solar Calendar, as best I understand it, with corresponding Gregorian and Hillel dates – because those are the dates we recognize. Let’s face it, we “keep” a Gregorian calendar. Nothing wrong with that. It is how I track and pay my bills, how I make appointments with others, and how I coordinate events with all of those around me, even my Torah-observant friends.

On this website you will find a few articles and some recommend resources for reading. I don’t have any paid advertising here. There are links to Amazon with the recommended resources, and if you click on them Amazon knows that you came from my website. Please, do that. They and I keep track of how many visitors (though not specifically who) come from here. And if you make a purchase, I receive a small commission. That commission does not in any way affect the price you pay, but it does help me fund the hosting of my website. Technically, that is called Affiliate Marketing.
